The decision by P&O ferries to dismiss its British seafarers without notice was an act of industrial brutality. The public is justifiably angry and the damage done to the P&O brand is seismic.

No one can fail to have been inspired by the brave leadership of President Zelensky of the Ukraine. And no one can fail to be inspired by the pride and courage they have shown fighting Russia. It hasn’t been as easy as President Putin thought it might be.

My inbox has been overwhelmed with support for the people of Ukraine.  It is heartening an reassuring to see the compassion and goodwill from so many people.
