Prime Minister David Cameron used a visit to a new Barratt development in West Thurrock to highlight the expansion of Help to Buy, which gives first time buyers a 20% discount on their new home. The Prime Minister met with construction staff and apprentices and was struck by the amount of housebuilding in Thurrock in recent months.
With renewed confidence in the economy more and mroe people are seeking to make the step to buy their own home.
Thurrock MP Jackie Doyle-Price said, "Most People want to buy rather than rent, but often the need for a deposit makes home ownership out of reach. The Help to Buy scheme is designed to address that and make it easier for first time buyers to get on the housing ladder. It is reassuring that Barratts report that the scheme is very popular. This is David's third visit to the Borough in as many years. He is keen to listen and do what he can to make sure that we all make Thurrock the best it can be."
