At the final game in the league yesterday it was confirmed that the Thurrock Ladies team has won the league. The mighty T-Birds had been untouchable and had totally outclassed every other team in the League with a number of sides failing to score a single point against them.
Under normal circumstances, the side would be promoted to the Premier League, but due to the World Cup, the promotion will not take place. Jackie is now adding her choice to that of the club who want to see the Ladies take their rightful place in the Premier League.
"I am very proud that we have such a talented team. Three of the Ladies are in our national side and they are really doing Thurrock proud. It simply isn't right that they cannot take their rightful place in the premier league. I can't see what difference the World Cup makes and it all feels a bit discriminatory and very unfair. I have made this point to the President of the RFU and will continue to do so until fairness prevails.
"I would also congratulate the whole of Thurrock Rugby club for the energy and enthusiasm they bring to getting people engaged in sport and for the strong community focus that runs through the club. It is great to see."
