Mayor of London Sadiq Khan plans to extend road charging to cover the whole of Greater London.
The Mayor is expanding the Ultra low emission zone which will mean that older vehicles that do not comply with emission standards will face a charge of £12.50 each time they drive into London
The policy, which is widely opposed will come in to operation in summer of next year.
Jackie Doyle-Price said, “when this policy comes in, the very fact of jumping on the A13 to go west from Wennington will see Thurrock’s motorists incurring a charge. So too will trips to Upminster.
These charges could see some people having to pay more than £60 a week if they want to continue using their car to get to work.”
The Mayor claims that this is about improving air quality but it seems to be more about revenue raising to me.”
