The Minister joined two English lessons and met with teachers.
Thurrock MP Jackie Doyle-Price said, "It is always a pleasure to visit William Edwards. It is a fantastic school. I am pleased to have been able to give the school a chance to show Nicky some of the innovative things that are happening there.
It is also good to give teachers the opportunity to speak with ministers. There has been a lot of change in Education, we rely on teachers to deliver that change and we need to make sure we have constructive dialogue with the profession. We are all on the same side. We want the best possible education for our children.
One of the issues we talked about was the need to get more girls studying science. This is a subject close to my heart and I am delighted that William Edwards is addressing this. There are great opportunities in science and engineering and I would like to see more girls taking advantage of these opportunities."
