Education Ministers Nick Gibb and Edward Timpson visited schools in Thurrock last week.
Minister Nick Gibb was visiting Harris to see the pioneering exchange programme which sees teachers from Shanghai sharing their approach and expertise with teachers and pupils here in the UK as well as learning from our approaches too.
Edward Timpson was visiting Treetops to see an outstanding special school. He considered the leadership at Treetops as inspirational. The government believes there should be more provision of special education to give parents genuine choice about how they educate their child.
Jackie Doyle-Price said, “Five years ago the story about education in Thurrock was one of failure. Today, Ministers are coming to Thurrock to witness excellence in our schools. The direction of travel could not be starker.
If just goes to show that with energy and ambition we can deliver the best for our children. In Thurrock in the past our schools have fallen victim to a culture of low aspiration for our children which has excused failure. Not anymore. I will continue to work with schools and secure the support they need to thrive. But I also have zero tolerance of those who fail to deliver the quality of education our people deserve.”
