Thurrock’s MP Jackie Doyle-Price greeted the latest cut in Employers National Insurance as another example of how the Government has shown itself to be on the side of businesses in the constituency. The jobs tax has in the past prevented businesses taking on more staff and holding onto those that they have. Measures such as this cut have contributed to record falls in unemployment under this Government, with 1.7 million more people taking home a wage packet to support themselves and their families since 2010, and the number of workless households falling to a record low.
Jackie said: “I am delighted that 1,200 businesses in Thurrock have taken advantage of the Government jobs tax cut. For many this is their first employee. Not having to pay National Insurance reduces the cost of hiring someone. It shows how cutting taxes increases jobs and growth.”
The cut, introduced by the Chancellor in April this year, is a real help to those businesses that wish to take on more staff, or hold onto those that they have. The Conservatives have committed to further tax cuts for hardworking families and businesses if they are re-elected in 2015.
