Tours & Tickets
Jackie is always pleased to arrange free tours of the Houses of Parliament for groups of up to 20 constituents who are visiting London, subject to Parliamentary business on the day. A full tour of the Palace of Westminster takes in Sovereign's Entrance, Norman Porch, Royal Gallery, Prince's Chamber, the House of Lords Chamber, Central Lobby, Voting Lobby, Members' Lobby, the House of Commons Chamber, St Stephen's Hall and Westminster Hall.
Tours can be arranged between the following times: Sitting Days • Mondays: 0900 to 1200 (full tours) • Tuesdays: 0900 to 0955 (full tours) & 1000 to 1200 (partial tours – House of Lords only) • Wednesdays: 0900 to 0955 (full tours) & 1000 to 1200 (partial tours – House of Lords only) • Thursdays: No tours • Fridays: 1530 to 1700 (full tours) Non Sitting Days & Recesses • Non-sitting Fridays: 0930 to 1700 • Christmas / New Year: Closed from the rise of both Houses to after the New Year Holiday • Easter and Spring Weekdays: 0930 to 1700 • Whitsun Recess Weekdays: 0930 to 1700 • Prorogation: No tours Summer Recess • August 5th, 12th & 19th ONLY: 0900-1230 • September 16th, 23rd & 30th ONLY: 0930-1700
There are no tours on Saturdays, Sundays or Bank Holidays. Other closures may be announced at short notice due to Parliamentary business. Jackie can also arrange for groups of up to 16 persons to climb the Clock Tower (Big Ben) and we get allocated a very limited number of tickets for constituents to watch debates live in the House of Commons. In addition, it is possible to visit the Parliamentary Archives, by prior arrangement. Please e-mail the Jackie's parliamentary email address, for help planning your visit. Sixth Form and Undergraduate constituents with an interest in learning about what goes on behind-the-scenes in Westminster are welcome to join us for one of our Work Experience weeks. Between 3 and 6 students from Thurrock spend a week in Jackie’s House of Commons office learning about Parliament and the work of an MP. Dates for 2013 have not yet been announced, but please e-mail Jackie, to register your interest in taking part.
The next Work Experience Week, subject to parliamentary events, will start on the week of the 15th November 2013. Please get in touch if you are 6th Form or University student interested in attending.
The Houses of Parliament Education Unit runs year-round programme of visits and workshops for school groups from KS2 to KS5. Places until summer 2013 are fully booked, but booking for visits September – December 2013 opens from 8.30 am on 24th April.
