THURROCK MP CALLS FOR STRONGER PROTECTION FOR VICTIMS OF CRIME

Thurrock’s Conservative MP, Jackie Doyle-Price, is co-sponsoring an important Bill to provide stronger protection to victims of crime.

 

The Bail (Amendment) Bill will give prosecutors the right to appeal a decision to grant bail. Currently, a judge must grant bail unless there are specific reasons not to do so, and there is no right of the prosecution to appeal such decisions. In many cases, defendants on bail go on to commit more crimes because the judge granting bail has not been fully informed about the seriousness of the charges against the defendant or risk posed by the defendant to victims or to public safety.

THURROCK MP CONDEMNS NHS IT PROGRAMME FOR BEING OVER BUDGET, BEHIND SCHEDULE AND WASTE OF MONEY
Thurrock's Conservative MP, Jackie Doyle-Price, has spoken out about the NHS IT programme following a third damning report by the Public Accounts Committee.

 

The NHS programme was launched in 2002 and was intended to provide full medical histories of everyone in the country, at any time and accessible by any healthcare professional. The programme was supposed to take five years and cost £5 billion.

THURROCK MP CALLS ON PM TO STEP UP PRESSURE ON SYRIA

Thurrock MP Backs Public Accounts Committee report on Immigration the Points Based system
Today the Public Accounts Committee published its findings after looking at the Points based system for managing immigration. On the whole the Committee found that the Points based system had improved management of immigration, but there is still a long way to go.

MP co-sponsors Bill to protect British pubs
Jackie Doyle-Price, Thurrock's Conservative Member of Parliament, is co-sponsoring a bill aimed protecting the British Pub. The Tied Public Houses (Code of Practice) Bill was introduced in the House of Commons today under the Ten Minute Rule. This rule allows backbench MPs to propose bills. Since 1945, there have been over sixty Acts of Parliament www.en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acts_of_Parliament which were initially introduced under the Ten Minute Rule.

MP LEADS COMMONS DEBATE ON NEEDED NHS IMPROVMENTS
Thurrock MP Jackie Doyle-Price has called for improved leadership and accountability in the NHS in South Essex. Speaking in a debate at the House of Commons, Jackie paid tribute to the staff involved in the care and treatment of patients but claimed that they were being let down by poor management.

WELFARE REFORM WILL MEAN A FAIRER SOCIETY
Thurrock's Conservative MP, Jackie Doyle-Price, today addressed the House of Commons on the need to reform Britain's welfare system. In the debate, as part of Parliament's consideration of the Welfare Reform Bill, the Conservative MP made it clear that the welfare system is overly complex and fails to support those really in need, that the system should be simply to understand and inexpensive to run, and should not penalise those who want to work to support their families.

MP SPEAKS OUT ON YOUTH UNEMPLOYMENT
Jackie Doyle-Price, the Conservative Member of Parliament for Thurrock, today spoke out in a House of Commons debate on the evil of youth unemployment. During the debate, she said:

 

"It is a tragedy that so many of our young people are not in work, education or training. Nearly two-thirds of unemployed 18 to 24-year-olds have not done any kind of work since leaving school or college.
